4 days “girls on bikes” and a lot of fun

Riding on awesome trails with mountain bikes, learning new techniques, testing brand new equipment and relaxing with massages, yoga or SUP sessions: The girls at the Bike Women Camp had the pleasure to experience this and lot more.

The four-day Women’s Bike Camp centered around the idyllic swimming area directly at Lake Caldaro in Italy was organized by Germany’s largest bike magazine. Fourteen manufacturers from the bike industry, including DT Swiss, set up their booths right in the middle of this idyllic spot. The girls had the pleasure to test material, some of which will only be available for purchase in 2018. For example, the participants were able to test ride new bike models during several tours. At the DT Swiss booth  they were able to marvel at our new and current wheel models (1200 SPLINE, 1501 SPLINE ONE, 1700 SPLINE and 1900 SPLINE) and enjoy some delicious coffee and good music.

However, this would not be the only highlight for the women. Well known and exclusively female bike pros and guides showed them the best bike trails around Lake Caldaro. The daily guided tours were divided into beginner, intermediate and expert groups. So there was a fit for every participant no matter how experienced they were: from long day trips with tough downhill tracks to shorter tours with integrated technique workshops.

Before and after the tours, the women had the choice to go to Yoga or Foamroll courses, to enjoy stand-up paddling sessions on the lake or to attend workshops organized by the manufacturers dealing with the topics of bike care and repair. At the DT Swiss booth our Product Manager Martina Deisenberger explained to the eager participants how our “tubeless ready” wheels can easily be fitted with tubeless tires and tubless sealant- in order to achieve better traction, grip and most importantly more flat tire protection. Martina, with her open and friendly character, managed to give the girls an understanding of the technical topic and to give them confidence to upgrade their own wheels even without men’s help. As a result, many women brought their bikes to our booth in order to set them up tubeless in a fun and stress free environment.

In the evening, participants, guides and manufacturers came together to round off the day with some “expert discussions” among women, a fine meal and a glass of Caldaro wine.

Despite the unfavorable weather conditions the camp was a complete success. We are sure that we have managed to give the women a better understanding of our technical products. We had a lot of fun with the great participants and organizers and simply laughed away the rain: We are already looking forward to next years camp!
